This technology represents a non-reagent five-stage purification process.
"Polifil" treatment plant has the capacity of 15 m3/day.
The plant is comprised of:
- three cylindrical tanks: 3 meters in diameter and 3 meters in height each;
- compressor 0.8 kW;
- circulation pump 0.5 kW;
- simple and reliable hydro-automatic system.
Description of the process:
Feed water gravity flows into the first tank - Anaerobic Bio-Reactor ABR where oxidation of organic matters and biochemical transformation of nitrogen and phosphorus compounds take place (First stage of purification). In ABR, the feed water is intensively mixed by a special mechanical device which is powered by compressed air.
After ABR feed water is supplied by airlift to the second stage of purification in the aerobic reactor - pressure-free flotation bio-oxidizer of organic matters (AFB), and gasses generated in ABR are vented off.
Flotated sludge is returned by self-flow to the anaerobic reactor of the first stage ABR, and treated water gravity flows to the third stage of biological purification - aerobic bio-oxidizing reactor with prolonged aeration ABR-PA for deep purification of water from organic matters, protein and fats.
Bioreactor ABR-PA is equipped with an effective system of stream aeration and active sludge separation. Active sludge forms a suspended filtering layer that represents the fourth purification stage. After this stage, treated water gravity flows to the fifth stage of purification - bio-oxidizing filter with polymer floating media BFFM . This filter operates in the mode of pressure-free biological filtration and provides effective bio-oxidation of remaining organic matters, protein and fats, as well as sterilisation of water.
Pressure-free filters operate in a hydro-automatic mode. Siphon-type hydrorobots provide an automatic backwash approximately once a month. Backwash water then gravity flows to the head of the process - anaerobic bio-reactor ABR .
Excessive sludge is removed from the reactor approximately once in three months and placed in special filtering bags for de-watering. The filtering bags are of a multiple use.
Feed water can have the following characteristics:
- BOD: 100-150 thousand mg/l
- Fats: up to 1500 mg/l
- Dry residue: 8000 mg/l
- Suspended substances: 8000 mg/l
Treated water has the following characteristics (without additional sorption filters):
- BOD: up to 30 mg/l
- COD: up to 100 mg/l
- Fats: up to 0.5 mg/l
- Suspended substances: up to 1.5 mg/l
These characteristics can be improved by using additional sorption filters.
Energy consumption is estimated at 15-20 kW/day.
A part-time operator is required to periodically check operation of the pump and the compressor.
