Sorbent Ferosid


The regenerable sorbent "Ferrosid" is applied in the purification of natural and waste waters from heavy metals and insoluble contaminants of any grade of dispersion.

It is designed as a universal and effective sorbent for a very quick precipitation of contaminants.

The sorbent generation is our "know-how".

Advantages:

  • The sorbent application does not cause additional salination of treated water
  • The sorbent works with a wide range of contaminants
  • The sorbent generator can be easily incorporated into any water treatment plant
  • The sorbent can be generated "on site" from inexpensive and readily available materials
  • The sorbent can be regenerated
  • The sorbent has low filtration resistance
  • The sorbent can be easily de-watered
  • Storage of sorbent does not require hazard precautions
  • Possibility for low waste control and disposal costs

Possible application:

  • Under neutral and slightly alkali pH of water, the sorbent is dosed onto the filtering media where it forms a built-up contact layer. Feed water is filtered through the contact layer.
  • Under the pH of water of 8.5-10, the sorbent is dosed into the feed water where it actively forms large and heavy aggregates of contaminants, which then quickly precipitate ( > 5mm/sec).

General information:

Sorbent "Ferrosid" has density 5.2g/cm3, and has the ability to form up to 12 m2 of sorption surface per one gram of sorbent.

An average size of sorbent particle is approximately 0.2 micron.

Sorbent consumption per contaminant ranges from 0.5 to 2 gram of sorbent per 1 gram of contaminant. Practical sorbent consumption for a target feed water can be determined by a simple test.

The cost of removal of contaminants is estimated from 1.5 to 6.1 US cent per 100 gram of contaminants.

If necessary, the sorbent can chemically bind with some contaminants and form non-leachable stabilized waste compounds that can be disposed at low-regulated disposal sites.
